Replacement storage and Diesel Generator keys

I have a 1998 National Tradewinds M-7370 Class 'A' RV. I have just bought it and they tell me the keys for the Storage doors and Generator door were lost. So I need to get replacements. Does anyone have a clue as to where I can get them? Also, the brochure for the M-7370 shows the diesel generator has it's own fuel tank. Can someone tell me where that is? Behind which storage door? Also the AC seems to not be working although it is charged up and does lose any pressure. I don't feel it come on or see the engine lag a bit when I turn it on. Plus another stupid question. Where are the fuses for the coach? I found the electrical box in the bedroom closet but the fuse box was there. Thank You for any answers you can give!

Keys: In that era, there were only a few key sets made so travel to a large RV park, get friendly with your neighbors and ask them to check their keys in your locks. When you find a match, borrow it/them and make copies. OR...you can just go to a RV dealer and find them there. They are sort of generic. I once went to a new RV show and used my '94 era Bounder key to unlock the basement compartments of a 2014 rig. Sales guy laughed and said I'd found their secret.

Diesel gens get their diesel from the main diesel tank for your diesel engine. The dip tube is inserted into the tank and it draws from there. Down to the 1/4 tank level. Then it stops running. So keep your main tank filled to over 1/4 if you want to run the gen.

Most coaches of that era have 2 or 3 sometimes 4 separate fuse cubbies. Good luck finding them but note they are meant to be found. Someone else will know and will come along soon enough.

For along time the de facto key has been a CH751. IIRC there are a couple more common keys and a set of 3 or 4 will open most RV basement compartments. The lock for your generator is probably among them.

Take a trip to Gander RV/Kamping Whirled and look around. My guess is you'll find at least one of what you need. You might even find them on Amazon or Walmart online.

You can order the keys from Amazon. It's unlikely that the generator would have it's own fuel tank. If it did, it's probably in one of the compartments. Does it run off of propane maybe? Then it uses the same tank as the other propane devices on your rig and it's in the one compartment that doesn't lock. The other fuse panels will be in the compartments also. Which AC is not working, the dash or the overhead? The dash AC will run off the engine. You'll need to look at the controls. Many have a separate button that you need to turn on to make the compressor come on. Turning on the fan just turns on the fan. The overhead ACs only work when they have electricity. They won't run from the engine.

Welcome to the forum and RVing in general. Do yourself a huge favor and start breaking down your coach and learning everything the old fashion way. Take and make notes and keep a notebook handy, because for example, it’s important to know where the fuse panels are, but more important to know what every fuse services. And that goes for everything on your coach.

Good luck with your new to you RV and i certainly am not telling you you shouldn’t ask for help here. These folk are very generous with their expertise.

Start by looking at the lock face to see if there is a code number on the lock. That would be the key code you need and it should be easy to obtain once you know it. Can usually be bought on Ebay or Amazon, or a friendly RV dealer may have a drawer full of odd keys. Last resort is a locksmith, but probably not ever needed.

Here's one source for common RV keys:

My experience is that generator access doors generally have their own key, for whatever reason different than the bay door key.
