My Journey has a 1.5 din old radio and a Sony CRT Monochrome Monitor. I bought a Kenwood Garmin GPS Head Unit. I am thinking the same as you. I am thinking of moving the whole unit up to where the Monitor is. viewing the radio that is down by my knee is not too safe if I was looking at it for GPS. Also, with a 1.5 Din radio, I would need to enlarge the radio opening to double din. That would necessitate moving the AC ducts up a little bit. That wouldn't be so bad functionally as it would keep from freezing my knee when on A/C but looks like a more complicated job to do that than moving the radio up to the Monitor position.
My project for this is waiting on Spring weather.

I bought a Kenwood DNX577S to put in my E-450 Class C and as soon as it arrived I traded it in for the Damon Class A So now hoping I can get it to fit. Looks like the opening is large enough and not too large. Radio is right next door so wiring should not be too much of an issue. (I hope)
