Replacing Electric Awning, Any Suggestions?

Rather than pay $800 +- to replace the broken arm on my 15 year old, 17' Dometic AE WeatherPro Awning I am thinking seriously about replacing it with a new awning with more adjustments for shade. I have liked the convenience of the electric but did not like the straight out canopy. Any suggestions for brand or type will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Previous coach had a 'straight out' A&E awning, present one has a Carefree. The Carefree has adjustment pins on each arm to adjust pitch. They can also be used to adjust side-to-side tilt for rain runoff. One comment, the motor on the carefree doesn't seem as powerful as the A&E, which means I can't leave sunshade on and roll awning up. Also, it's more of a pain getting the sunshade in the slot on the Carefree.

Thank you, good info. I was hoping with the adjustable tilt I would not need the sun shade.

Following. I damaged my awning today on a steel column at my storage facility. Twisted the rear arm, pulled it loose at the top. Pulled it away from the roller. I'm thinking I'll need to just replace the whole thing rather than try to find parts. I read through your other thread on finding parts and somehow it didn't surprise me. My coach is 15 yr old as well. And to be honest, I had been considering replacing the fabric before long anyway. Its not been a good day...

That is a bad day. Hopefully we will get more recommendations here. What kind of awning do you have? One of us might be able to get the salvage part(s) we need. LOL

Mine is a 20 ft A&E WeatherPro 9100. Metal wrap, control box in basement and wind sensor (non functional) on the roof. It’s original to the coach. At some point Dometic must have bought A&E so now its Dometic.

Mine is 17' A&E WeatherPro Power Awning, no number but I do have all the serial numbers and the diagrams of parts. Some of the parts are interchangeable so my research says.

I'm going back over to the coach later today and I need to get the numbers off it if I can. I know the documentation is in the coach. I don't want to try to unfurl it at all in the condition its in, so I don't know if I'll be able to get numbers off it or not.

The numbers I found were on the inside of the leg cover about 12" up.

Thank you, I was hoping with the adjustable shade I would not need the Sun shade but nice to know it is no problem with the Carefree.

I’m thinking the Solera XL would be a good choice for me. It extends 9’-8 which would be nice as i have a kitchen slide out under the awning. I like the adjustable pitch too.

Our previous motor home was not built with an awning. Had a Carefree manual installed down near San Diego in 2015 for around $700. parts and labor. In the past two years, we have spend almost $1700 on our A&E power awning (fabric, motor and control box). Yeah, an electric awning is convenient, but in all honesty, I wish I had just replaced the electric with manual one. Much more versatile and certainly cheaper than the money I ended up paying.
