Road Dust in rear of Coach
Hi Everyone, Not sure where is the best place to post this. I have a 1994 Bounder 34J that I started removing the carpet to replace it. At the rear of the coach is a lot of Black dust and dirt up the wall and on the floor. I see where there was Silicone where the floor and walls meet but it has shrunk and cracked allowing it in. Any ideas what this is? My plan is to clean it up and remove the silicone and use a 100% Acrylic Caulk that is supposed to be very flexible. Its called Acrylic 1 Advanced. Is this okay to use?
Thanks everyone and here are a couple of pictures.

This is not unusual. The movement of the floor and walls cause a flex and seperation of the seal. We had the best result with gluing and stapeling a 3 inch wide piece of rubber against the floor and wall. rubber or rubberized canvas type material works well.

Thank you, one more question. After I get some rubber in there is it okay to seal it with the Acrylic or should I go with Silicone? I think the Acrylic has more flexibility. Here is the product DynamiteŽ 5000 White, Clear & Colors - Elastomeric Sealant With Silicone - Clear C834
Thanks again for the help.

The rubber sounds like a good idea. You could also check out those vinyl strips they make for tub and showers and glue them in with silicone. You might also want to check outside underneath and see if you could seal it also, maybe with undercoating over spray foam insulation.

One word of caution on the flooring. Remember the motorhome will be closed up and getting very hot in the summer. (When not in use.) Make sure you leave room for expansion at the edge of the flooring.
