Roadside assistance and a warranty

What do y'all do if you have a flat and no spare or some kind of break down while on the road? Truth be known, I would have one heck of a time changing one of those big tires if I did have a spare, lol

What about an extended warranty for a recent purchased 10 year old, low miles DP? Would ya buy some sort of warranty?

I have Coachnet, Had to call them last Sept because I (long story) needed to be winched out and back on the road. I cannot say enough positive about from the start of the phone conversation until I was back on the road. I will not leave home without them.

We don't have a DP but rather a gas coach and we use Coach-Net as our emergency road service provider. We've only used them once and that was for a vehicle breakdown.

Regarding an extended warranty, we don't have one on our 12 year old coach, however if we had a DP, I would seriously consider one.

You may find though an extended warranty for a 10year old coach may be a bit pricey.

If you decide to get one make sure you read the provisions on what is covered under the warranty very carefully.

Best of luck with your decision and safe travels...

Welcome to the forum.

I think you'll find that Coachnet is the favored roadside assistance provider by a majority of members here... including me.

We bought an extended warranty with our new DP and since we were so new it provided peace of mind and they paid all claims without issue. Not sure how costly it would be on an older rig. You may want to "self insure".

Best of Luck

Rick

Roadside assistance has been a cheap, valuable thing for us. I recommend.

Extended warranties are not tru warranties. The are service plans (meaning insurance). Like all insurance, it is based on profits, which means sometimes you win but you usually dont. But, there are pros and cons to be considered. Here is some info:

Happy trails!

We have used Good sams emergency road service for many years with excellent results. The few times we needed them they handled the problem quickly and easily. as to a spare tire, we carry an unmounted spare. they will come out, and mount the spare. Our only cost will be mounting the spare on a rim.

AAA Premier RV. Had to have 40'DP towed locally due to fuel line leak. $8 for part plus repair....tow covered by AAA Also had a trailer tire blow...they replaced spare on highway. Have many Classic cars, so covers them also, along with daily drivers of course.

I did have a blowout on DP last year. Had to buy a spare tire as the MH doesn't come with a spare. Most truck stops have 22.5' tires, so not an issue. Not sure on others, but AAA won't get the tire for you. The mobile repair guy changed and mounted and sold me the tire, right at a restaurant off highway exit I'd rather pay a little more when spare needed, rather than lugging around an un-mounted tire that may dry rot.

BTW, there is a reason many MH don't come with a spare. You really can't change yourself (unless you are a pro mechanic and have a ton of tools with you ). I consider myself mechanically inclined, and have restored classic cars from shells...but would not attempt When I watched the guy replace mine, he arrived in a van with portable compressor, hydraulic jack to lift over 50,000lbs, and a tool to dismount/mount tire on rim (I had inner tire blowout). I also had a thimble freeze, so he had to cut off with an air tool (May have needed torch too). I asked then how he does in a snow storm on the side of road on an 18 wheeler!! He said carefully Guy had 30 yrs. experience and was amazing to watch him repair.

CoachNet has provided excellent service the 2 times I need them. I highly recommend CoachNet.

Extended Warranties; look for exclusionary policy that has a consequential damages waiver, these 2 items are minimum requirements. Avoid inclusionary policies like the plague.
