Roof over options
We have our 36’coach parked in the back yard and it is being lived in with hookups to its own power and to the property septic...we don’t want to deal with the building dept to get a permit for a roof over, but want to cover the top & slide out...
Is there another solution by way of a roof over that would sit a couple feet above the roof? Someone mentioned a roll up that would attach to legs along the outer perimeter of the roof, anyone know of any such beast?
Thanks,
Sandy

A prefab steel carport can be ordered as a kit with width, height, and length to fit your needs. Permit requirements vary by locality but in many places such a kit does not require a permit. Do a google search for steel carport kit and you'll find many options.

Not sure of zoning in your area but Ca. does not require permit for metal rv cover with no side walls, roof only, where I live, they are considered temporary structures. I do live in county not city so rules may be different in city.

I live in NE Pennsylvania and when I went to the building department to ask about a steel carport (no walls) they told me it was a temporary building and no permit was needed. It doesn't hurt to ask.

A big tent, basically a tarp over a metal frame that is NOT permanently anchored to the ground. Portable shelters like that rarely require a permit because they are temporary and movable.

You might get away with something like this one too. It requires semi-permanent ground anchors but the frame and covering are detachable. Usually not considered a "building".

Just want to say thanks to all for your suggestions...I think, Gary, that the canvas is how we are going to go, just figuring out how to anchor the poles without blocking the storage compartments....that’s gonna be fun, haha
