I'm a gadget guy and never bought one because I thought my dog/cat's hair would be too much for it. Some of you seem to use it with animals and like it?

Well we tried one.. Did not work out for us (Well for Wife, I could have made it work)

There are two types. One is a genuine vacuum, and like all vacuums it has bags and filters that must be changed or emptied or cleaned often

The other type is a carpet sweeper. DOES NOT WORK WELL if you have long hair pets as the brushes quickly fill with pet hair.

Some can sense steps. return by themseves to charging cradles and the like...

I use a hand held vac. I( also have a "Upright" but like the hand held better.. The Upright may find it's way to Salvation Army.. Have not yet decided.
