Route 98 in NE Arizona

We have a Class A gas 38 foot with a tow, wondering how the hills are on Rt 98 going into Page, Az from Monument Valley

We drove that route from Paige to Kayenta last October and I don't remember any steep grades at all. The route parallels a railroad for much of the way so there aren't any real steep grades. There was a surprising amount of traffic on the road though.

Good road, no steep grades. Just a nice scenic drive on a very good road.

I have done it many times. You will climb about 2700 feet along the route but no steep areas. It's a fair two lane road. AZ98 is on the Indian reservation so be careful of the locals.

Be sure and stop at Glen Canyon Dam. It's unusual to see a coal powered generating plant so close to the hydro electric plant. Look real close at the railroad track and see if you see something different. And keep your gasser topped off.

It is a good road. Be sure and drive the speed limit. There are a number of zealous reservation cops. We had someone in our RV group get a speeding ticket. There was a trap at the bottom of a long hill.

That track carries the coal trains to the coal fired power plant near Page.
That is an electric rail road with overhead High voltage lines. It is the only HIGH voltage RR in the U.S.. Locomotives built by G. E. Other electric rail roads use lower voltage than 50K.
