Keep in mind that Most states Require that ALL combustion engines and any propane usage be shut off Prior to fueling...

So true, but as you can see, many RV owners go by their own rules.

Shut the genset off at the gas island. It's noisy, hot and smelly, plus it increases risk of a fire. A very small risk, perhaps, but the result would be catastrophic.

WOW really no gen set for 20 or 30minutes, holy smokes what will you do?

Turn your genset off at the gas station, I don't want to be hurt, because you FAILED to fix your genset and because you don't want to turn it off. How selfish of you.

I'm not sure if the "Shut Engines Off" applies at the diesel pumps, as the fumes from diesel will not ignite from a spark. Sparks can be deadly around gas fumes.

State law that you shut off all engines @ the gas pump. Odds are that you will never have an issue but imagine that there is an explosion and someone gets killed. You could then be charged with manslaughter never mind being liable for the property damage. If you think that a major oil company wouldn’t go after you for damages, you are sadly mistaken.
And your genset should start hot or cold. It needs to be fixed.

It is OK to keep the generator running as long as your beer is in a koozie while doing so.

Your not supposed to be on your cell phone either while fueling.

I make up my own rules. Fuel at the truck lanes. Leave it running. Haven’t blown up yet. But I’m kinda new to all of this.

Under normal conditions this is not a big deal, but what might happen if the guy at the next pump decides to drive off with the fuel nozzle still stuck in his tank and the pump is running. Suddenly you may have a large fuel spill, and if conditions are just right those fumes build up to the correct ratio, then one spark and KABOOOM

Yes. Or if you happen to go out for some Orange Mocha Frappuccino’s with a few of your male model friends, like the guys in Zoolander, things can go bad in a hurry.

OP responding to this poster and earlier ones as well. Thor changed the location of the fuel port in 2014.5 (which mine is). It is now on the rear cap. So not breathing fumes while filling. My concern was just triggering a fire or explosion.

I would shut it off. Also turn off a propane fridge.

Our son who is a firefighter will not go into a service station if the bulk truck is there dropping off a load of fuel.
