Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

You will need to give us a model number in order to get help! Keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I've never seen a runaway refrig, usually they quit when they hit the ground.

a domestic (home style) fridge or a Dometic RV fridge? I've never seen an on/off switch on any domestic fridge. since you mentioned changing the control module I will assume you meant a Dometic brand RV fridge. what does the owner's manual state? some electronics require you to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to power off a device.

runaway refrig

I have a dometic model DM2852 that does not shut off. I replaced the control module but that didn't fix the problem.

Turn off the gas, pull the 12V fuse, and shut off the breaker to the 120V side. If it is still going, it's a miracle. Probably the failure is in the control board which you can replace.

If the thermister loses contact with the control board, the board reacts by running the cooling unit more-or-less nonstop, so your food doesn't spoil. My guess is your problem is either a defective thermister (the sensor on the cooling fins inside the fridge) or the wiring back to the board.

So what happens when the ON/OFF button is in the extended (OFF) position?

i have seen a runaway 70s' mercedes diesel engine. tried to stuff up the exhaust pipe, won't work until disconnected the fuel line.

for this fridge, add an on/off switch to 12v supply at entering the black box at its back.

I had a runaway 3406B Cat motor after an oil seal failed. I85 northbound at Spaghetti junction in Atlanta at 5:30 PM. $650 tow bill then $10,400 rebuild. After that she would !

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

That's what the old haylon fire extinguishers were good for. They were just inert gas that displaced oxygen, thus shutting down your motor safely with out dusting.
