RV Queen Size Short Mattress
I was very close to placing an order on line for a new Queen Size Short mattress ( 75 in L x 60 in W ).However, when I measured my current RV mattress, I found to my dismay that it is actually 80 inches in length by 60 inches wide. My mattress is definitely a Queen size, not a King and I was wondering if anyone else has run across this situation? It looks like I will now have to order a home size ( 80 inches long) queen mattress to replace my old one. I just assumed that all RV Queen size mattresses were short size ( 75 inches), but I guess not. Any comments from others that have dealt with this issue before?
Thanks,
Dave

Why does the fact that your RV uses an ordinary queen mattress upset you?
Wondering.

RV Queen Size Short Mattress
Mel,
It doesn't upset me at all. I am new to owning an RV and I just assumed from reading various threads on this website as well as online ordering sites , that all RV queen size mattresses were considered "short size" ( 75 inches long). I am glad that I took the time to actually measure mine before ordering a new one, knowing now that I will need one 80 inches long. Is this a common issue?

Not only is mine an RV queen, it has a corner chopped off to allow the slide to come in. Not a big deal since we use a cushion extender/insert. But.. Getting that tempurpedic mattress custom cut cost me a bit extra.

Our king size mattress is smaller and has rounded corners, Our city has a mattress factory which will make a custom dimension mattress for you.

Ours is a standard size queen since it came out of our home. Our coach came with a king size that made it too cramped on the sides, and since we are used to a queen size anyway we replaced it. The king was also 80" in length. Our old Itasca did have an "RV Queen" that was only 75" long.

Our 1999 Winnebago Brave gasser had a short RV queen, but our 2006 Newmar Kountry Star DP has a residential-sized queen. I like the extra 5 inches.

I think most newer FWs and Class As now come with standard queens.

I believe that the short queen is a hold over from the pre slide days and is still used a lot in TT that have the bed running north/ south.

Is your foam mattress hot to sleep on?

Look up Parklanerv mattress. They have a Cool Sleep memory foam. Not knocking any others, but we like ours.
