Samsung 3 door residential fridge

I have a 2018 Fleetwood Bounder with a Samsung residential 3door fridge. I cannot figure out if when traveling will the fridge stay on & use the rv batteries or do I have to run the generator. I’ve never seen this before on any other rv’s I’ve owned.

You likely have a 2000 watt inverter. When turned on it will run the fridge from batteries. You likely have 4 6v batteries under steps as well.

If you are plugged into shore power just unplug and turn the inverter on and see if the refrigerator runs. My guess is yes.
Need to make sure the house batteries are charged while driving.

I installed a Samsung RF18 residential in my rig in 2019, to to give it a good test in 2021. Worked great, stay cold and dropped ice all day long even in +100F weather.

Don't miss the Norcold one minute.

Just turn on the inverter when you travel. Your batteries will run the fridg and your alternator wll charge the batteries. REV does a good job of setting this up.

I have a 99 Windsor Monaco with original Xantrex set up with 4 6 volt top of the line Golf cart batteries, if i change to a Residental fridge do i need to go to a Pure sine inverter or just turn on the inverter I have now, my Norco works well but frosts up in about 3 weeks and I need to defrost it because the seals (all original are pretty well shot.
Thanks Bluenose

Depends on the fridge. Some work fine. Some don't.

Your 2018 Bounder came with the residential fridge, 2000W Magnum inverter/charger, and 4) 6v batteries as standard equipment.

While traveling, just run off the inverter. Absolutely no reason to be running the generator, other than if you also are running the roof AC.
Once you arrive at your destination and plug into shore power, the inverter will be bypassed automatically.

As a double check, when you start the RV up and ready to pull away, just open the fridge to make sure the light is on. IF so, good to go. If its off, turn the inverter on at the inverter remote panel. Verify fridge light is on, then happy driving.

X2 what was just said.
I do not turn my inverter off under normal circumstances. When parked on shore power or when traveling.

As bentjm said, it depends on the fridge brand/model, but it also depends on which Xantrex model you have. If it is a pure sine (PSW) inverter, it will run any residential fridge just as well as a generator or shore power. However, if it's a Modified Sine (MSW) model Xantrex, then the brand of the fridge becomes a factor. Some may not run at all, some will run at reduced efficiency, and a very few will run just fine.

The Xantrex RVxxxx series of inverters are MSW, while the RSxxxx series is PSW. There were other models too, but I won't try to list them all here.

I have seen people on here say that the Samsung will work on a MSW inverter.

The electronic controls on the GE 21 that I have on my boat would not even recognize a MSW.

So you basically have two issues with MSW - will the electronics even recognize the power and if they do, will the MSW reduce the life of the compressor?

You can always install a separate PSW inverter just for your refrigerator. You can get one with a 120v bypass for $400 or so.
