Satellite hook up
My husband and I bought a 2020 Jayco Precept 32 foot. At the time of the walk through we were told that we could hook up our portable satellite which is a Dish Playmaker with no problem. The satellite connection is down in one of the cabinets underneath the coach. We were told as long as the booster was off (no green light) then just run the cable from the connector inside to the box and it will work. It doesn’t. The only way we can get satellite is to run the cable directly on the portable dish through the window to the box. We also run the cord to the tv from the box into the USB port on both ways. Anybody have any ideas on what we might be doing wrong?

What you did wrong was believing the salesman who told you that your Playmaker would work on the cable connection, it won't. In order for a satellite antenna to work it must have a unbroken coax run directly to the receiver, as you found out. The cable connection you tried to use has splitters installed in the coax. These splitters will not work with satellite antennas. Look closely for another coax connection in the bays marked SAT or something like that. If you don't find any then your only fix is to run a coax in to the receiver from a external location on the coach.

Never believe a RV sales person. The first question Dish or Direct customer service rep are going to ask is the receiver connected directly to the satellite and how long is your coax cable. Perfer 25 ' maybe use 50'. We should record the sales people and then sue when we find dirrerently.

BTW, I often use a 100 foot cable, plus the 35 foot internal cable in the coach without problems. But, it all depends on quality of the cable, dish and receiver.

I know it sounds silly, but what does the owners manual say? Of coarse it's entirely possible Jayco messed-up the installation.
