Scan Gauge D - preset gauge loss

My Scan Gauge D, which I have had for about two years and really like, is now losing the gauge presets every time I stop/start the engine. I don't see any internal battery but it could have one. I thought it was all powered by the diesel equiv of OBD2 ----kind of annoying to have to reset the gauge readouts each time. Just started in last couple of weeks.

thx Dale

This has not happened to me so far, but I'm wondering if you might have a blow fuse. I've always thought there was 5 or 12v always ON, in one of the terminals.

The Scangauge operates correctly and shows all the info.
It just does not hold the setting each time the engine is turned on/off.
From reading their literature it says it has flash memory to retain settings and needs no power. I have a query into the Scangauge website for assistance.

Will post results when I hear from Scangauge

thx Dale

I'm watching to see what you find out Dale. My Scangauge has never held my settings.

Here is the reply from customer support at Scangauge.

"Does the ScanGauge shut down immediately with the vehicle? If so, this is what is causing the issue. Normally the ScanGauge take about 15-30 seconds to shut down after the vehicle has been shut off. During this time it is saving data. However, some vehicle cut the power to the diagnostic port when the vehicle is shut down. To fix this issue, you will need to set the TRIPS to AB in the advanced set up menu. To access this setting select MORE>SETUP>scroll to ADV SETTINGS>EDIT>scroll to TRIPS>scroll to AB. When the TRIPS is set to AB, the ScanGauge will save data when it sees the vehicle come to a stop. After you have set the TRIPS to AB and made any other changes, make sure to move the vehicle. Simply putting the vehicle into reverse and moving the vehicle back should be enough movement. If you have any questions, please let me know."

Since mine shuts down immediately at engine stop, I am going to try this solution. Well post results.

thx Dale

I have a Scangauge 2. I've never lost any settings. It shuts off a minute after I turn the key off. If I press the bottom right button even with the key off, the gauge lights up and shows me what ever active gauges on the screen. Then it shuts itself back off again.

My Scan Gauge D shuts down approx 30 sec. after turning the engine off. I haven't lost any settings.
Thanks for posting Scan Gauges reply.

I just changed the settings to AB as suggested by Scangauge customer service.

I had to move forward and back a couple of times to have the settings saved, but now when I turn the engine off and then back on the gauges all are shown as the ones I had previously selected ---

success -- thx Dale

Dale, I finally had the opportunity today to change the TRIPS setting to AB and that worked for me too. Like your coach, mine also powered off the ScanGauge immediately upon key off.

Thanks much!
