SCS Frigette questions

I have this key pad opener on the motorhome with 2 remotes. Yes I know they went out of business back in 09 with no forwarding address. Yes I know there are Trimark replacements I can buy with wiring parts through Winnebago. The hand held remotes work good but can't get the keypad to take a code. I have tried several methods but to no avail. I'm not the original owner and don't know what the opener was previously programmed to. Last year I was able to talk to the PO and he didn't know what the code was but gave me a couple number to try but they didn't work.

Unlike a Ford keypad which always holds a factory code as a default, the SCS one is apparently erased when an owner code is put in. As I said I have tried a variety of methods suggested by Winnebago, people on this site, and what the original paperwork gives. I have reset the yellow button in the control box on the left front compartment.

The keypad itself will lock the doors and compartments by pressing the last 2 pads together and holding for a couple seconds. But it has a strange characteristic that might be the root of the problem. The keypad is illuminated but the light stays on for 20 seconds, goes out for 2 seconds, and repeats.

It would be nice for the keypad to work as advertised but not worth it to me to spend the $$$ to upgrade to the Trimark. Anyone with one of these systems have the "blinking display" issue and what did you do to stabilize the system? My thoughts are it's not talking to itself well because of component failure but I'm not an electrical guru.
