Seat belts and replacement sofas

Hi,

I just read the thread on putting an Ikea sofa in a coach. If a sofa is not attached obviously the seat belts can not be used.

I must presume this could turn off potential buyers or a dealer when it's time to change the coach.

Probably depends on how sofa made. Is there space between seat back and sitting surface to put belts thru? Any couch can be secured to floor just as good as original. We could use seat belts on our recliners - I just decided not to. But I did save them.

Can you keep the OEM couch and just reinstall with the belts when you decide to sell or trade it? We're replacing our couch as well and plan to do just that.

It doesn't look like the factory couch on ours is that difficult to remove or reinstall.

If you're trading in, 99% of the dealers won't even notice there are no belts. Of the other 1% who notice, 99% of them won't care.

Oh. OK.

Actually, we looked at the Ikeas, but nothing we could find would really fit the hole very well, so we went with a more expensive and more comfortable couch with a fold-out bed. With what we paid for this thing, when we sell the RV I'm taking it back out and putting it in the house if I have to

Seat belts were one the 1st things I checked when I purchased my coach.

That's great to know I could put Ikea furniture in to the coach if needs be. We have a lot of Ikea furniture from when we moved over from Europe.

I agree with TonyDi - 99% won't care. Seat belts on a sofa are pretty useless anyway - they do zilch for sideways movement. Some experts even consider them harmful if the seat is not facing forward.

In any case, the seat belts are anchored to the floor, not the sofa.

So it would be better for passengers to sit at the dinette?
