Serpentine belt for 6CTA 8.3

Hi, I am looking for a serpentine belt for my Cummins 6CTA 8.3 and need a part number, that way I can also cross reference for other brands of belts. This may be the right number (DS-3911583) but just need someone to confirm. Thanks.

The belt length varies depending on the alternator the chassis manufacturer used. Mine is Dayco 5080645, (64.5" long), but you need to measure the length yours to confirm.

NAPA is very good at matching what you need. Run a string around all the pulleys (follow belt), then measure string length. Count the number of BELT ribs, measure width. Take that info to NAPA, and the counter staff will match your data to something in their computer data-base. For instance, my string measured 69.5", 8 rib belt, 1 1/8" wide. They found what fits my Winnebago w/ ISC 8.3 is a 1999 Freightliner MDT w/ Cummins ISC 8.3

Thanks guys for the info. I was thinking about the string method too, but thought it would be just a simple belt number. This way probably works better anyway.

Of course what you are actually going to do is this. Remove both the V-belt and serpentine belt and take them to the store to get the correct match. You are then going to install the new belts and save the old belts for spares.
