Servicing a 6.7 400hp Cummins Diesel? Oil change

Servicing a 6.7 400hp Cummins Diesel? Oil change, lube etc.
Took mine in after I bought it to Freightliner and they did it 10,000 miles ago. I want to learn all the part numbers and how to service my own engine. Never had a diesel engine before. Would like to hire someone to come to my house to see all that needs to be done, from parts to lube joints.
Opinions on how to do this? I will call a diesel mobile repair to come do it and show me, but is there a better way? The one I called said we are more expensive than Freightliner, but you can watch and learn with us.
I looked at YouTube, but still not hands on but pretty good.

Nice find coach.
Check your books every grease point is in mine, owners find service misses some. Filters and quantities are also in there.

A lot of the maintenance requirements and instructions are in the FCCC maintenance manual for the XC chassis you have ...including all the grease fitting locations. It will also give you the Freightliner maintenance schedule and checklist. If you don't have it, it should be this edition:

FCCC RECREATIONAL VEHICLE CHASSIS MAINTENANCE MANUAL

Here is your specification sheet from FCCC:

2004 Gulf Stream Atrium XC-Series Motorhome Chassis

So if you have the manuals, youtube videos, and this forum, you can probably figure most things out yourself and avoid spending the money on having a mobile mechanic come to your location and tutor you.

If you don't think you can do it without help, I once knew a guy who used to work at a semi truck service shop in Tumwater and he quit to do mobile servicing of diesel motorhomes and trucks in Thurston, Lewis, and south Pierce counties. This was over ten years ago so I'm not sure if he's still doing so or not. I'll do some research and see if he is still around. He did a lot of mobile repairs and maintenance at some of the RV parks in Thurston county and the surrounding area. If I can find out if he is still doing that, I'll PM you.

eta: BTW, your engine should be an 8.7L instead of a 6.7L if it's 400HP ...it should be a Cummins ISL

If wet sleeve engine you need to check coolant for SCA/DCA levels unless has been changed to OAT. Without nitrate , molybdenum or both cavitation can pit cylinder liners right through. If it's green real good chance you need Fleetgaurd test strips to test SCA levels. Or just running full fluid analysis is not a bad idea.

If it’s a 400 HP Cummins, it is not a 6.7 ISB.

It is a 8.9 liter, Cummins ISL. Other than the Cummins name, they are totally different power plants.

Yup, the only 6.7 400HP is the Cummins QSB marine engine.

Looking at the books from prior owner, shows 8.3 and 8.9 and found 46290940 s/n so keyed it into the Cummins site. They show both too? Yes not 6.7

Was that supposedly the ESN? Cannot be - two engines won't have the same Cummins ESN. The 8.3L Cummins "C" engine was nearly always rated 330, 350 or 360 hp in motorhome use, so if you have 400 hp, it is very likely an 8.9L ISL. But if you can't identify the engine correctly, how do you know it is 400 hp?

Maybe start with the year/make/model of coach? Is what 153stars posted the right data for yours? If so, it may have been equipped with either a Cat C7 (330 hp) or a Cummins ISL 400 hp. This is the chassis data for A 2004 Atrium:

Forget the books.

Look in the engine OR call your chassis maker with your VIN.

The sheet you sent says a 8.9ltr vs 8.7? I don't mind paying the guy you know to come do it once to teach me the rig. I know WHERE the air cleaner is for example, but for someone to show me shortcuts, etc would be great!!!
Thanks Bruce
