Set ride height manually for short drive?
Hi,
Started the coach today to go about 60 miles to new CG, and ride height logic is broken on my HWH 500 system. When auto leveling is turned off, no air moves in or out of the bags.
Can I simply manually get the coach to ride height by visually inspecting the ride height horizontal bars and drive it? I can stop occasionally to re-check it. I really do not want to foul up my driveshaft, etc.
Looks like I may need to send my control board back to HWH for rebuild.
Thanks
Steve

You can manually get the coach to ride height using the control panel but when you put the coach in drive, the coach will drop back down.
You have to get the coach to ride height and then pull the correct fuse which will shut off the HWH system, then you can drive the coach.
You can open the control box to pull the fuse, which one I don't know or you can find one in the outside dc fuse box. Here again, don't know which one but it might be labeled.\
My Intrigue has the HWH tied in with the step control. 7.5 amp if I remember correctly

The ride height control is an active system.
While on the road, the mechanical ride height valves are adding or dumping air to maintain height.
There is an inch or two of neutral zone but anything more, like an ungulation in the roadway, long curve in the road causing a lean, or entry into a gas station apron is going to cause the valves to add or reliese air.
There should be at least 3 ride height valves.

Do you have enough air in the tanks to fill the bags?
Does pressing the Dump button allow any air to escape?

Can you contact the member that works for HWH sorry I can't remember name he helps members someone fill in the blank please . It worries me that any leaks and it will slowly droop possibly cause less than safest condition. It might not be a huge job to temporarily make like other air valve only ride control. Does anyone have the diagrams to share. Might be as simple bypass something like air solenoid or control unit with air tubing and have ride height valves do the rest .
I suppose to could the try pulling plug see how long the ride stays up.

Hot wire any of the four travel solenoids, they are all connected at the same place on the board. Hot wiring one will power all four and put the coach into travel mode. You just have to undo the hot wire at the end of the travel day to level. This will get you home.
Check the fuses on the control board, including the one to travel mode.

Just stumbled on this not too many posts down the page, from RVbiker75 go to post 14 on same page about not building air. Refers to HWH troubleshooting manual you may want to google that kind of thing.

Thanks everyone,
I was able to fix it by disconnecting the ribbon cable at the control panel and the main board and spraying with Deoxit and reconnecting. Coach went into ride height OK, and drove fine. I will be checking the operation a few times before our next drive on Saturday.
Dons2346, I was planning that next if the contact cleaner did not fix it. Note in my case, putting coach in drive had no effect, turning the auto leveling off effective turned off the whole system, so no air was moving, but I would have pulled the fuse just to be safer.
Twinboat, I had not thought of that, but it makes sense. I do have 3 ride height valves. Are you saying it is not good to drive it if the system is static (not active), even if it starts at the correct height?
rssnape, yes, in manual mode the bags would fill and dump fine, just not in travel mode.
153stars, I left AZ Pete a message, (I had spoken to him previously on a different issue). I can build air OK, it was more of a logic issue.
richarde, that is an interesting idea, the travel fuse was OK, just 0 volts coming from the main board travel front and rear connect points. I did verify there was 12v on those point when it started to work. I could have pulled the 2 wires and simply hooked them to 12v for the drive. Will keep that one for future issues.
Thanks again for all your help everyone!

Put dielectric grease on all the electrical connections to prevent this from happening again.
