Look around for a nice Monaco Diplomat. In 2005, they came with the 400ISL. Ours was a 36' (37' overall) three slide, side aisle, all in one bath. It was a great coach and a great size, especially if you're looking for something a little shorter. A 2005 should be in your budget.

It had the split windshield and was no big deal. It still had a great view

We plan on renovating the interior quite a bit, so we're hoping to get something a little older providing the mechanics, systems, etc. are good. What we save on the initial price, we can use for renovations.

One thing we've been running into in the older (planning on spending under $60K, so around 2005 seems to be as new as we can go) is the split windshield. We've only ever had the one piece windshield, so we're wondering how much the two piece interferes with the view.

Anyone have both and absolutely hate the view with the two piece or does it not make that much difference?
Thanks!
There are some very expensive coaches with split windshields

Each time I get a huge crack, I almost wish I had a split

Look at the vast majority of trucks

You will not notice it

I have had both. I prefer the single windshield but would not let it prevent me from buying one with a 2 pc windshield. It is just a preference.

I have a 2 piece windshield and have no problems seeing out of it - the center 1 inch piece where the 2 join is certainly not going to block much view ahead.

Only bad thing I've ever heard about split windshields (please correct me folks) is older Winnies/Itasca where water would leak into the steel window framing causing it to rust and requiring extensive rebuild.

Sorry - I don't know the model years although some report that Winnie will claim it's a maintenance issue or they don't know anything about it.

Don't abuse the messenger - I'm only paraphrasing postings I've read after an easy google search.

As others have said, it's not a deal breaker, but we both really like the one piece we have now over the 2 piece and wipers we had in the last rig.

For some reason the view is just better without any obstructions.

Happy Glamping.

Your thoughts about the rust problem with some of the Winnies also popped into my mind. There are quite a few posts about it and from what I read, the fix was a bit expensive. When I was looking, I was looking at gas motor-homes, so I really don't recall whether the problem existed in the diesel pushers, but I would definitely research it.
