Should I buy a 2001 Gulf Stream with dewald

So, I have an opportunity to purchase a 2001 Ultra Supreme Gulf Stream 8325. The slide works, but seems a lil wonkie,but works. Looking at these dewald systems, it seems it’s tuff to get parts. I’m pretty mechanically inclined and don’t mind diving into things(researching and fixing). The rest of the motorhome is in really good shape with very little rust(spent most of its life in South Carolina). Comes w new tires. At $17,900, do you think it’s worth getting into this investment?

There are a number of slide systems that are obsolete. My bedroom slide is the same way, I was concerned on mine and was looking for a new slide motor/gear box and I contacted Lippert, which bought out the company years ago and pretty much said they do not support it.



It would be a crap shoot on getting the RV but if you could a good inspection of the slide out mechanism/system you might find an easy fix. Never know.


FYI, I just spent ~$10k over the last year on my investment, new tires, fuel transfer pump, second inverter, new AC's, new flooring. Got to pay to play!!

EDIT after search seen Dewald is hydraulic system. Not familiar with exact slide you are referring but many gears have been discontinued in current brands older gearboxes . Owners have used off the shelf and modified/machined these gears to use in the gearboxes. Usually gear has odd shaft styles/sizes or can be drilled for shear pins in some cases.
