should we park it in the woods or in the sun

We need to move our motorhome parking spot at the house we have a concrete pad but it is in the sun if we want it fully on the pad we will have to remove part of a deck no big deal but the rv is still in the sun all day. We do have the option of cutting a few tree limbs and maybe a tree or so and putting down some gravel to park it on in the woods. We do want to have a carport installed soon but who knows how soon that will be and that would either be in the woods or on a piece of property across from our garage. Hate making decisions any help or advice would be a big help. Thanks

All kinds of ways to look at it:

In the woods gives shade and keeps temps down. That is good. It also means trees, parts of trees and such can fall on it. Might need to keep a look at it on a regular basis to clean tree sap.

I suppose the side bar issues will be ground firmness and making sure you can properly protect your tires.

I'm interested in what others say. Thanks for bringing this up.

It's a toss up, sun eats it, or trees drip and drop stuff on it, hard to tell which is the least of 2 evils. If it where me I guess I would try to park it where it got the least sun but not directly under the trees if you have room.

I agree, sun. Rain and moisture under a tree promotes mold and mildew. If the trees are tall enough to allow enough sunlight to dry it off but provide shade during the mid day heat, worry about limbs falling limbs and leaves accumulating and then rotting. At least in the sun, fading is your concern.

Park it on concrete if you can, either way. Moisture underneath will cause rust and rot.

Gravel will allow for drainage, but still allows moisture to rise under the parked coach.

When we started to travel several years ago, we always tried to park in the shade and searched for the shadiest places to park. Conventional wisdom said it is cooler, prettier, and generally nicer. I spent most of our first year traveling cleaning tree sap from the roof and sides, scraping the nuts and leaves off the awnings, and sweeping the pine cones and acorns away. We also watched one time as ants used leaves as a bridge to access the roof of the rv. During our second year a large branch fell from a tree we were parked under (no wind, no storms) through the main awning and broke DW's shoulder. We will never park under trees again, either when we are using the rv or just parking it for storage.

I live in Florida and I like park it in the sun, have both options, prefer sun, stays cleaner.

We park in the sun, use a cover and thankfully have several large trees some distance away thet provide afternoon shade. Colorado sun is intense, so a cover is essential.

We park ours on the East side of our house on a concrete pad so it gets the morning sun and then the afternoon sun is blocked by the house.
