Shouldn't the slideout topper extend past the slide out?

I looked up online the slide topper assemblies, seems they run between $400 and $500 complete. The only question I have now is the extension brackets have to be a little longer than the ones that come with the new assembly to accommodate the longer tube which will be like 6" longer than the slide 3" at each end. The brackets on the existing look like they can move out about another 11/2" not enough to make a difference IMO. Still seems a little silly that they would make the tube barely any longer than the slide, probably allowed the factory to get an extra piece out of each length or something like that!

This is the bedroom slide topper on my rig. Been opening and closing it as I'm working in the Motorhome, it's really cold so there's a little contraction on the fabric but even if it went to the end of the tube seems like it won't overhang the slide enough.

I do not think your going to be able to go to a bigger assembly. Mainly because there would be no way to extend past the current mounting point where the brackets are at.
Just by looking at the picture it appears you could squeeze another two more inches of roller tube up there and then slide the adjustment rod out another inch on each side.

Buying a bigger assembly would not be any benefit though as you are limited by slide wall length. IN your case all you would want is a slightly longer bare tube. You would then remove everything off your current roller tube and re-assemble ( end caps, torsion spring, etc. )

If you want to send me a picture showing the inside lip of the slide with the slide extended I can better ascertain where your fabric and roller tube currently is as it pertains to the inside wall of the slide. You can e-mail them to me at chris@stonevos.com.

For what it is worth, I have seen much worse slide coverage and shorter assemblies which challenges us when making new toppers. We have to really push the envelope on slide topper length when making new ones.
