Why torque converter?? The trans was just rebuilt and the problem existed before the rebuild.

This for sure! I certainly wouldn't think it was a driveline problem. I've had the exact same symptom come up a couple of times on my 8.1. New plugs and wires solved the problem both times.

Woodsie, i'm sure you replaced plugs but did the tune up include new ignition wires?

Has the fuel filter ever been changed, should be inside frame rail.

New plugs, wires, fuel filter. It only does at highway speeds when I try to accelerate. It does not do it climbing hills when it downshifts and has much higher rpms. Because of that I am thinking driveline because the drive shaft is not spinning as fast in a lower gear climbimg a hill than it does at highway speeds.

The reason I suggested the torque converter is that I had a Grand Marquis LS company car with the same symptoms you are describing, both before and after transmission rebuild. Turned out the new torque converter failed and had to be replaced, which solved the problem. Let us know what finally fixes your MH.

Well I think I got it figured out. I went under today and I am able to wiggle the drive shaft in the support bearing by hand at least a 1/16 of an inch. It shouldn't move like that that easily. So I will replace all the u joints and the support bearing. Hopefully that will cure it. I will post what happens when it's done.

Mark all sections of the shafts carefully to get the re-assembly correct.
One section out of sync and you'll have a worse problem than you've got now.

Take the driveshaft out and rotate each u joint. I have seen u joints that looked good felt tight but actually would not pivot. Most of the vibration issues I have found have been the front u joint. You need to actually be able to swivel each direction with no binding.

I would also check motor and transmission mounts, but center drive line mount could be culprit.

We're going to need a determination here, of whether the engine is missing or if it's not staying solid on it's mounts, otherwise it's chasing ghosts in a windstorm.
Once had an old Buick Riviera. All at once it started shaking and wouldn't accelerate. Would have sworn that the thing was running on four cylinders.
Turned out to be the universal joints.
