Simple way to remove slide topper?

Hello, Does anyone have a simple way to temporarily remove a Dometic A & E Systems slide topper? I have found a leak on my slide roof and if I can remove the slide topper I can get at the outer roof line to remove and apply some Dicor tape. Can the two mounting brackets be removed and not let the topper unwind itself? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a you tube tutorial on removing the awning. If you're just going to repair the top of your slide, I'd just take it loose at the slide as shown and then lay the awning over onto the roof.
