Sky Harbor Airport
Does anyone have experience doing a passenger pickup at Sky Harbor (Phoenix) with a big rig? I have a 42 footer with a toad. If so is there clearance at arrival level or do you need to go to departure level and if early what are options for “parking/waiting.” Thanks for any suggestions. I have figured out I can go to bus parking at the zoo and have guest UBER over.

There is a free cell call parking lot at the east end.
You could disconnect there.

Why not just use your toad?
Wait in the free cell phone parking if you are early.
Happy Glamping.

Years ago, about 2010, I dropped my son off there in our 40' Phaeton pulling a 22' trailer with a Jeep on it. My son was driving a Ford 3/4 ton pickup pulling his Jeep on a trailer. After dropping him off, my wife got in his truck and we both exited out the east end and back to the freeway. It was an easy in and out. Not sure how it would work for picking up someone, but probably the same if they were at the same location.

I'd say it all depends on how you feel about driving in congested/tight traffic situations.
I picked up my son last year at Sky Harbor, I decided to just take the toad. Was glad I did as at that time there was extensive construction going on at the terminal.
There is a casino not to far from the airport on the west side. Might be an option for you to park RV and take toad in.

as mentioned there is a cell phone waiting lot at the east side of the airport. it has always had a lot of open space when we have been there. use it to unhook your toad and drive it to do the actual pickup. i have no idea how you would navigate a motor home to the curb to pick somebody up.

First you need to find out which terminal you'll be picking up at (2,3, or 4). But there is no way I would want to drive a 42 foot motorhome into Skyharbor. I think the best advice was already given: Park at a casino, detach the toad and drive that. The closest casino is Talking Stick or Casino Arizona near Scottsdale east of Skyharbor just off the 101 freeway.

Some good points have been raised here. As I posted, we did not have a problem taking two rigs with trailers into the drop off lanes. It is very congested and if you are not comfortable in that situation, then it should be avoided. It would have been a bigger pain to find a place to unhook, drop off or pick up and then go rehook.
