On the bottom of my 26' long full wall slide I used the above hopefully to make it retract and extend easiler.
Big NO. It actually made it much worse. It turned into goo attached to the under neath. This made the seal sticky and noisy in and out.
Took an hour using laquor thinner and 4 rags to get it off. Had to clean the seal too.

I had a service done on my rig preparing it for a long journey and the ignorant mechanic greased the slide out rack which is a no, no. I removed the grease with solvent and maintain those gears and slide rail with spray on silicone. Been doing it for 7 years and all is well.

Some of the sprays get sticky when "dry" others actually leave a non-sticky lubricated surface. The label will usually say which it is.

Since silicone lube itself isn't sticky or gooey, I suspect there was some other coating on there that reacted somehow when the silicone was applied. Maybe waxed?

But I agree, there really isn't any reason to lubricate the bottom side. Just keep it clean and fix any burrs or tears you may incur.

I've been using 303 on my slide seals since our first RV in 1994. Never had any bad effects and the rubber doesn't deteriorate.

My slides are HWH hydraulic and three of them ride on adjustable pads with nylon pads on the top. Seems like a shot of a dry lube would help them slide and cut down on wear.

I don't think there is any rubber involved. He is talking about the exterior bottom side of the slide. Most likely filon or some other "skin" material sheathed over the wood slide bottom.

Silicone lubes take many forms. I use a tube on my toilet stuff and some moving parts. Its food grade so it's pure. Its gummy unless you work to spread so thin you can barely feel it and then it should feel very slick. Technically you can use it but rubbing it thin is a process. I used to use it in surfaces at work and had a chalkboard eraser type tool to spread it out.

Sprays are better and less sticky but can have carriers and additives you need to be aware of and make sure won't affect the rubber.

I like 303 had no idea it had been around that long. Been using it on my boat and vehicles since 2000. Never tried it on slide seals.
