Slide cover is loose

While driving my 2007 Fleetwood Revolution I noticed the driver side slide cover was flapping in the wind. Upon inspection at home I see the end of the cover goes into a channel. I can't figure out what holds the material in the channel. It doesn't appear to be glued into the channel, nor are there screws holding it in. Does anyone know what holds the slide cover material to the coach?

I noticed the material is folded over at the end that goes into the channel, making a pocket (kinda like curtains). I'm thinking of buying a dowel that I can slide into the channel and through the pocket in the material.

There should be a rope in that edge seam that slips into the holding channel.

That channel you're seeing, that is folded over, is supposed to have a solid nylon cord inside of it. The cord expands the channel and holds the slide topper in place. You may be seeing some of the white nylon cord coming out the other end of the slide topper, as they can slip.

I just replaced all four slide toppers on my unit. In addition to the cord that was along the motorhome slide there was a self tapping screw that screwed through the top of the channel and into the cord that held the slide topper in place.

There is suggested amount of pre-wind turns but the springs rust and cause internal friction. You may just need and extra turn or two. Awning manufacturers share installation instructions. Most likely you'll need to drill out and replace rivets from end caps.

That is exactly what holds the fabric from sliding back and forth on my MH!

Yes a rusty spring can cause rewind problems and maintaining tension on the topper material. That is easily fised with a can of PB Blaster. Locate the small hole in each end cap, insert the spray straw adapter into the hole and spray the spring liberally-you can clean up the excess later.
The run the slide out and in a couple times to work the liquid throughout the spring.
Next day the spring should recover its movement.
