Slide dropped 1/2 inch

While extending my living room slide on a 2004 Pace Arrow 37c, I heard a loud bang. The slide still works ok, but upon inspection, I found a 1/2 in wide, 6 inch tear in the metal on both ends of the living room large slide half way up the inside edge of the side windows. It's almost like the bottom of the slide wants to separate from the top.
I've measured the slide rails and they are within spec for this model.
If anyone out there has had this problem, please let me know how remedy the situation.
Thanks
