Slide issue

Hello Fellow RVers!

I could use some advice on a slide issue. We have a 2012 Journey 36M Class A Motorhome. The passenger side slide is long - like 30'. One of the slide lock motors quit working and the technician says it needs to be replaced. Ordered motors can be here in about a week. The limit switches, however, are a 5-6 week wait. We, of course, are a couple days away from moving 1200 miles to a new locations. Here are my questions:

1. Should I replace both slide lock motors while I am at it?
2. Are replacing the limit switches necessary?
3. Could I replace the motor(s) and wait on the limit switches until I get to the next destination?
4. Could I put in the slide, lock the one lock, and travel? Would that be safe?

Thank you in advance for your input. I sincerely appreciate it. Michele

There are far more knowledgable folks here than me, but I also have a full-wall slide and I know you would NOT want to travel without both locks locked. I would wait on the other motor and limit switches unless it's a big savings on labor to do it while they're already in there. Good luck with your repair!

No knowledge on your motorhome, but there are a lot of people who have manual locks that travel with only one lock or no locks engaged. Newmar Baystar's and Baystar sport's in many cases have almost impossible to get to slide locks, even with the supplied tool. I drove my BSS for 8 years with only two locks engaged on a three (one a FWS) slide mh. (6 locks total) Not one time did the slides budge.

Your system may be different.
