Well I was just about to start testing the motor to determine how many amps it draws when connected directly to a battery and now that method no longer works....just the click noise.

I reported back to Power Gear and within the hour I was given the unfortunate news that the motor is defective and needs to be replaced.

Okay then...I'll be ordering a replacement today and now I just have to research what's involved in replacing the motor. It's a dual shaft model that sits in the center of the slide. During the time around the motor thus far it doesn't appear that the job should be too difficult, 4 bolts holding it onto a plate....fitting the shafts into it and reconnecting the two pin connector?

OMG...now I find out from a local dealer that the US company (Lippert) who makes the motors for the slides, jack and steps don't keep inventory and they make on demand so now the wait is 3 weeks just to get it shipped. Time to look for other sources who 'may' have the part number I need in stock.

Conclusion - Karma was on my side.

Well as we know, yesterday I was left in the position of having to replace the slide motor and my initial option through the Power Gear dealer in BC was to wait in excess of 3 weeks AND it would have cost me $1400 CDN by the time it was at my door.

As it was clear at that point that our April trip was done I thanked the rep and said I might as well look around a bit more.

Within a short time I stumbled across a pdf link for a dealer here on Vancouver Island BC that was clearing their old inventory. So I did a search of the pdf for Power Gear and among the many hits was one for my slide motor #1010000010. It said they had one left.....no....this can't be true

So I called the parts guy with my fingers crossed and low and behold they still had it......and get this.....$413.00 CDN. Yes, brand new and warrantied.

Bought....bam!! He had it couriered down the island to me and I had it in my hands by noon today.

I had already sprayed the old motor nuts with PB Blaster penetrating oil in prep.

4 motor mounting bolts and two shear pins later......guess who has a nice quiet, smooth new slide.

Thanks to all who took the time to pass on their ideas and experience!

Ron
