I was of the understanding that if it isn't flipped all the way in one direction that is okay as it is still doing it's "wiping" job.

Was I informed incorrectly as it seems this seal doesn't seal the slide to the body very well.
With your slide opened a little, from inside reach over the top of slide and feel for the sealing seal, on the slide

I keep mine well lubed and have not had any problems. It only 2" and when it hits the rubber it starts turning. I only need it on the bedroom slide because the other slides have windows to turn the rubber.
If one does not turn I use the awning rod for the windows and stick in and flip the rubber.

It is a wiper not a seal. The seals are inside the wiper outside. The wiper is designed to do just what it says. To wipe moisture from the sides and top when the slide retracts. If it doesn't flip it is no big deal it will still wipe. If I happen to see that it has not flipped all the way and am not doing anything else I use the awning rod to flip it but that is just for looks not function.

Mine came with double sided tape already on it. You can but strong (outdoor) double sided tape at a hardware store if needed. I carry a roll with me for use when I don't want to drill holes for screws.

I tried to find the link to the company I bought from but can't locate it at the moment.

I found it but it now looks like they are wholesale only?

Here is a company that has the trim and they show prices so maybe they sell retail.
