TwoMed - That's terrific, I thank you very much for the link. I talked to a local upholstery person and she said she would resew the awnings if I brought her the thread. I wasn't too keen on buying enough thread to cocoon the entire RV with one of those big spools, so this will work out great.

Does anybody make a white tape to match this fabric and to keep this from getting worse?

And... no, I didn't scrap it on that wall. It was this way when I got it.

I did a temporary quick fix by taping over the small tear, removing the canvas completely from the roller and turning it around so the UV exposed seam was now wound on the reel and the portion of the canvas with the thread that has never been exposed is now on the outside. I had to also switch the plastic cording since the size was different on each end. This will buy me time until I can get a new one made. This time I will insist on the polyester thread.

If I do anything with my slide topper, it will be to try and find an aluminum cover and sew another bead where the weathered part is.
