Slide topper won't retract - lesson learned

Getting ready to leave campground this morning retracted all the slides and realized that the slide topper on the full length slide didn't retract. It was just sitting there flapping in the wind. Climbed on roof, fiddled with retract reel - no good. Slowly retracted slide while manually folding and tucking topper in was able to sort of stow topper. Thankfully campground owner recommended RV shop 10 min down road. Get to RV shop, extend slide and they determine its just ice hanging up the reel. It had rained a couple of days earlier and froze the night before. Knock the ice loose - problem solved. No charge - gave him a ten anyways.
After 2 years full time I'm still learning newbe stuff.

That's a new one! Don't think I've ever heard of that happening! Thanks for the heads-up!

When we bought this MH in 2013 the topper retracted very slowly or not at all. Staying true to the KISS principle I grabbed my spray can of Liquid Wrench and liberally sprayed the springs via a small hole in the end caps. I then began running the sldies in/out every day and re-spraying the springs.
The rust on the springs finally loosened up and began working properly, now spraying the springs is on my annual to-do list.
