Slide won't extend - HELP!
Hello all,
Picked up a used 2017 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 33D today. Drove it home, lowered the air suspension, auto leveled it, engine running and the main (front) slide will not extend when I hold the "out" side of the switch. If I hold the "in" side of the switch I hear the slide momentarily try to come in, but it doesn't since it already is. The bedroom slide works no problem. Both slides worked prior to purchasing. Any suggestions? Wouldn't be a fuse, right, since it does try to come in when pushing the "in" side of the same switch?

Not familiar with the procedures on that coach but try it with the engine/ignition off. Many coaches won't allow the slide to be deployed with the engine running.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, unfortunately that didn't work either. Previous owner did say the engine must be running.

If it has a slide lock make sure is is fully unlocked. If is is not unlocked the slide will not go out

If you could tell us what type of slide mechanism; hydraulic, rack and pinion gear or screw drive it might help to diagnose.

Thanks all,
No slide lock on the motorhome. Slide mechanism is hydraulic. Is it possible that only one side of the switch is bad? "In" works, "out" doesn't.

I swapped the main slide switch with the bedroom slide switch (bedroom extends and retracts) and nothing changed, so that's not it.

Try with engine off, but key in ACC (accessory) position?
Another thing to try is retract jacks, and air the suspension back up, then try again to open slides. Sometimes the chassis can get a little twist or “bind” to it, and this would put pressure on the slides making them hard to move.

Good news! I found some electric controls for the slides. While my wife posted the slide out switch I jiggled the wires and it started working. My owner’s manual says the coach has a hydraulic system but then I found a slideout owner’s manual that says I have a rack and pinion design operated by a 12 volt DC electric motor.
Also weird is when I start to move the slide out a trim piece above the kitchen catches. So much so that on the trim separates from what it is nailed to. Guess I will need to trim it. Weird.
Plus now today my generator won’t start…

Got the generator running. Now just need to remove a slice of the trim piece and I think I am good to go, hopefully. Still not sure why it is catching though...

If you jiggled the wires and it started to work, I would go back in there and clean all the contact points. It will lower your amp draw a bit when the slide is operated. Dialectric grease may be in order here.
If the slide is catching on the trim, you may want to inspect the rollers the slide alignment, and lube everything that slides and rotates.
