Sloppy Shifter

Iíve noticed that my column shifter (PRNDDL) doesnít line up with its letters and appears to be a little sloppy or loose when shifting into gear (it does stay in gear). Is there a simple way to tighten this up? GM transmission not an Allison.

Check the shift cable connections at the shifter and transmission. Could be a loose bracket or worn pin. There should be an adjustment on the cable to line up the pointer to the letters.
