Smoke and overheated tires
Need some help and advice. Just took my new Tiffin 2021 Phaeton 37 BH on its second trip. A couple hours in to the trip I got a high temperature message on my two inner rear tires and then smoke started to come out the back. I am five hours away from home and made it to a campground. Has anyone had this problem. Is it tires or something else. I will need to find a repair shop ASAP if I can’t drive and I don’t think I should. Any ideas on the problem so that I can get to the right repair shop would be appreciated.

Sounds like a break hanging up,Don't think a tire issue would make it smoke

Well your asking for opinions , so here's mine .
Assuming your tire inflation was correct at the start of the trip , it's unlikely a tire issue .
I'll put money on dragging rear brakes , causing the overheat and smoke .
Repair facility ASAP.
EDIT; what chassis is your coach built on ?

If it's on a ford chassis.. they just recalled a bunch.. because they did not put enough oil in differential.. and when you drive it like that.. not knowing they forgot oil in differential basically... the rear end is trash.. they have to do total replacement.. $$$$ so.. take cell phone with camera and flash and record yourself checking for oil in differential.. don't remove any bolts on back.. of diff .. the bolts are marked from factory to tell if there has been any tampering.. so they are marked.. only use fill plug.. if nothing comes out.. use tooth pick and probe down from hole and see if anything on tooth pick.. document everything.. record everything.. get witnesses.. if oil level ok.. hope it's brakes.. good luck and let us know what you did and maybe better members then me will help you

If you find none or not enough.. [ basically oil level to top of plug] you need to make a claim.. contact ford owners in manual and ask what they need you to do.. or just tow to where you got it.. rear tires off ground.. keep us posted

Tiffin Phaeton is a diesel pusher, not a Ford gas chassis.

We had a similar issue with our new 2021 New Aire. Both inner tires were extremely overheated with super high pressure. We could smell brakes. Made it to a repair facility. The brake slack adjusters needed adjusting. "Green swell" in the brake shoes was the suspected root cause.

It will be on a Freightliner chassis and I agree the brake linkage probably needs adjusting.

If the brakes are hanging up and causing the heat and smoke, be sure to confirm that the heat did not damage the wheel seals or you will have a more serious problem down the road.

Rear brakes: Either brakes hanging up, or you were driving some steep hills or mountains and braking to much.
