So, Who has the skinny? Slide toppers

For slide topper replacement? One of ours tore at the coach and retracted into the housing. I'm sure it's not worth re-stitching the existing material. Can a guy send in his housings to carefree?

If you're handy, order new fabric and replace it. Several you tube videos will walk you through it. I've done a couple and it's no big deal.

^^^. What he said. I got replacement topper fabric from Tough Top Awnings and did the swap. Took about an hour and that included cleaning the slide top and conditioning the slide rubber. Stone Voss is another source for replacement fabric.

x2 for Tough Top Awnings. They sell much heavier fabric than OEM. They have a couple of videos showing the process. My wife and I replaced the fabric on a full wall slide in a couple of hours including removal of old fabric, cleaning/waxing slide out top, carefully installing new fabric. Since the old fabric had completely torn I also had to wind the roller spring which turned out to be easy.
Give them a call, they will give you good advice on the entire install process.

Stonevoss.com. If you are going to the trouble of replacing slid toppers, go with the best. We did all three of ours and four awnings and could not be more happy. Use lot of non staining silicone spray to help slide the new toppers into the groves. Stan

Terrific folks and the material is very tough. The thread for the stitching is just amazing. I have replaced all four of mine and the one over the door making it 5.

No they are not the cheapest but who wants to do it again?

They can walk you through the replacement and as suggested there are tons of great videos.

You need two people if at all possible. Yes one can do it but you need to be creative. Pulling the material through long grooves can be a challenge if alone.

Just ordered some samples from Sailrite Inc. going to use Sunbrella fabric and they almost sale the fabric that the windshield covers are made from. Going to make my own.

Did you see where this guy is from.......Washington state.

StoneVos is in Florida, just north of Tampa.

We had all our toppers replaced, 3 new window awnings installed and new main patio awning by StoneVos too. It's the best material on the market bar none and a great company. But not for someone in Washington State.

Back to the OP's question. There is no company that you can send your housings to and they'll put new material on it and ship it back to you. It has to be done on the coach. YouTube is your friend.

What? If he installs them himself or hires a mobile tech what does it matter where he buys them from?

I cannot understand why Stonevos does not totally customize their slide topper product in width and length. If you have a 1’ or 4’ deep slide out you will get the same amount of material with the extra being rolled up on the roller tube and potentially reducing spring tension.

I went with Toughtop Awnings where they do customize the length AND width of each slide topper.

x3 for Tough Top Awnings. We had no issues with the purchase or the installation, and the material is of better quality than the original.

Send a message via ICQ to Ivylog
On a 2014 rig the fabric is still good. It only needs to be resewn. Remove and take it to a canvas shop.
