Spare tire mounted?

So maybe this is a dumb question.

I have seen mention of the value of carrying a spare tire at all times. What is not clear is whether that is a spare tire already mourned on a rim or does it really mean just a tire?

Having it already mounted as with a car spare would make it easier to put into service but would also add significantly to the weight, cost, and handling until needed. If roadside assistance outfits are equipped to mount the tire on the spot it would make it easier to carry a spare tire.

19.5 and 22.5 tires can be dismounted and mounted with a tire sledge and tire spoons on the side of the road. I have done it myself, but there are guys really experienced with this and can do it quick.
However, carrying a full spare with rim will expedite down time and simplify the process. It doesn't add that much more weight overall.
IMO, rim and tire are better.

the pace arrow we used to have had 19.5" tires, and came with mounted spare and a proper way to store it up under the back of the rig.
I've made use of it, changing those tires is not so bad.

The 22.5" tires on the knight are a whole different animal. VERY heavy, even unmounted. I carry an unmounted spare in the basement, would never leave home without it. Doubt if I could lift a mounted 22.5, coachnet takes care of that part real well.

A cell phone is cheaper. How many of you are, strong enough, to handle a 150 lb. mounted tire? 25 yrs. ago, it was a piece of cake, now not so much. When I bought my MH, it had a empty tire mounted underneath, on a homemade frame, that weighed as much as the tire, and I'm tellin' you, that wasn't worth crap. Thanks, but I'll make the call.

We carry an unmounted spare tire. This to ensure no delays or price gouging should the need arise. Relatively easy to get ERS or some shop to install.

I'm lovin my mounted 19.5 hanging in it's nest under the rear of our coach. I haven't had to change a tire myself yet, but if push came to shove, I feel like I could do it.

I have a mounted spare but will probably do away with it when its age hits 7yrs. Reduce overall weight and regain a bit of cargo space.

I've had 2 flats and CoachNet was there for me.

I will only carry a spare in the future on roads like the Alcan. Both RVs are now in the Lower 48 and will probably stay here. No need to travel the Alcan anymore.

Coach Net will have the tire you have mounted on their nickel, just carry the tire. I am going to rid it under the back of the coach, put a tube in it and air it up a bit to keep it clean on the inside.
