Speed sensor 1999 brave
Does anyone know where this sensor might be located if it isn't on the transmission? I have been told it could be in the front wheels integrated with the abs sensor. Has anyone else ever had the same problem?? The speedometer doesn't move then jumps to 75 and stays there. Help!

If the speedo sticks at zero then at 75 , no signal from a sensor will cause that , problem is probably in the speedo head.
For a speed sensor location you'll need to give some more info.
Gas motor home ? Ford or Chevy ?

Does sound like the speedo itself. Does the trans shift OK? Odometer work?

Sorry I forgot to mention in the first post.
I believe that your vintage of Ford chassis uses; for the speedo; an input from the sensor for the rear brake portion of the anti-lock system , the sensor would be mounted on the top of the rear differential housing.
Operation of the sensor can be tested with the correct shop tool through the OBD II connection.
If a member with a Ford chassis doesn't respond to your question, about sensor location here, then re-post in the Ford Chassis section of the forums.

, now why didn't I remember to ask those questions.
If the speedo sticks and the odometer is working then , the problem will be in the speedo head.

Does the cruise control work?
ABS and Speed sensor may be on top of differential..
While taking about Cruise contral, Take your VIN # to any ford dealer and verify if the recall has been complied with (VINs prior to about 2005 need this important safety recall)

The speed sensor on my old 2000 Monaco La Palma (Ford) would routinely cause similar problems unless once a year I would pull it from the rear diff, wipe it clean and return it.pull the electrical connection then then take the single hex head out and pull it straight out. Be careful not to damage the "o" ring. After wiping clean replace with very light torque. New aftermarket ones are also available online for a few bucks. Good luck.

Yours may be different but my 1999 speed sensor is in the top, side of the 4 speed auto transmission.
The rear differential sensor is for the ABS system.
I believe they shared the same rear diff sensor in latter years.
I had a ABS light and replaced the diff sensor to fix it. It took me a year to get to it, but the speed and cruise worked fine.
Lookup the part for your year and see where it goes.

Thank you for the input. I don't own that coach anymore but I do know that the process I described brought the speedometer function back to normal along with shifting. I now own a 2008 Monaco Monarch 30FSF on 20.5k Ford chassis, and will take your comments under consideration for trouble shooting if and when needed. Once again, Thanks.
