For those putting electrical tape around the door post, I found a better solution. Most of these posts are "floating" door posts. Mine made all types of noise. One day I tried the electrical tape and it was quiet until the tape wore out.

My solution, I removed the post, which had a large metal washer between it and the door frame. I took the lid off of a storage tub (thin white plastic) and cut out a washer that fit behind the metal washer, so that it was between the frame, washer and post.

The door post still floated, but was now a little tougher to move......no more noise.

I assuming using a Teflon washer will merit the same results.

Update....

I have cleaned and silicon'd the door jam. Then I found that there is a series of rubber grommets on the screen door where it touches the metal outer door.

After cleaning and siliconing these, voila... and today no squeaks!

Amazing.. but you all have led me to look in additional places. I found my door 'hold out' at the bottom of the door and have lubed it. It did not have a rub point so no need to fix that.

Again, thanks for all the ideas, points of view and feedback.

Kevin, yes a Teflon washer would work, but the washer size and center hole is odd sized.

First let me say that squeak will drive you nuts!, we also had a little wind noise. What I did was put a second row of adhesive weatherstripping around door jamb, that got rid of the wind noise and lessened the squeak. Now every few trips I wipe the latch post and the latch mechanism on the door clean and put a small dab of clear faucet grease on them and no noise at all.
I like the tape idea though, no chance of getting it on your clothes, hasn't happened yet but

My door had a little high density foam pad about 2x2 inches stuck on the jamb flange right behind the round post that the door latches on.
It was kind of ugly so I removed it thinking it was not needed.
Was I wrong. Next day of our driving the door squeaked alot. That night I was thinking about it over my favorite drink ( whiskey old fashioned) it hit me. Fortunately I put the piece of foam in the trash. Retrieved it, reinstalled it and all is now fine. Lesson learned. If you take something off your RV don't throw it away. It may serve a purpose you won't know at the time.
