Starting our Alaska adventure

Hi Group, Thursday June 18, 2009

On Wednesday June 24 we start heading west in our 38 foot GAS CLASS A motor home on a 3 month 12,500 mile round trip from Clarence, NY that includes ALASKA.

1st stop is NORWALK, OHIO to crew for racing friends at the NHRA SUMMIT NATIONAL drag races from June 24-28.

Next is MT RUSHMORE in SOUTH DAKOTA over the July 4th holiday.

Then a drive into CANADA with campground overnight stays that include
CALGARY and JASPER, ALBERTA and a few days stay in PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA for motor home service, supplies and some rest.

Then on to DAWSON CREEK, BRITISH COLUMBIA to begin a 34 day over 4,000 mile guided tour with 18 other rigs driving through CANADA, ALASKA, back into CANADA, then southern ALASKA and back into CANADA ending in SMITHERS, BRITISH COLUMBIA.

During this trip, while in WATSON LAKE, YUKON, we will be hanging a
commemorative sign from CLARENCE, NEW YORK in memory of the FLIGHT 3407 crash of February 12, 2009.

After the 34 day tour, we drive back to PRINCE GEORGE for a few days to
again get the motor home serviced, more supplies and some rest.

Then back to the LOWER 48 into NORTHERN CALIFORNIA for a few days in the REDWOOD FOREST.

Next we start heading east for a few days visit at GLACIER NATIONAL PARK in MONTANA.

By now it will be SEPTEMBER and we are considering a few options heading back to NEW YORK. We expect to be back home by September 15th.

Sounds like a dream road trip to me. All that rugged country in the comfort of a 38-foot motorhome. That's definitely RVing at its best. Good luck and let us know when you get back to reality.

As you head south from Prince George you will hit a town (Quesnel) 60 miles south. Turn east (left) and head into Barkerville for 2 days of fun. It is the only original Ghost town in North America - not commercialized http://www.barkerville.com/ There is good dry camping and many things to do and see. Then drive down the Fraser Canyon (Highway 1) to the coast. A lovely drive. Enjoy.
