Staying at Bass Pro Shop in Memphis

As some of you may know there is a large Bass Pro Shop in Downtown Memphis. Does anyone know if they allow overnighters? I've gotten mixed answers and furthermore the all stays app, which is usually pretty accurate, does not list that location.

If they do allow overnight, how hard is it to get to in an RV? We're about 59 feet long and it is a motorhome pulling a flatbed so even if it is available do you think we could get to it?

the shops, as well as Cabela's now, have plenty of room for RVrs, short and long, and usually welcome them. Cabela's even have dump stations, water, and RV long parking sites.

if concerned about entry and maneuvering, consider that the largest semi trucks with trailers, up to 70' or more, deliver to these stores every day. No problems.

use google 'overview' for satellite view of the area.

There is also a Walmart in Forrest City, AR that allows overnight parking. We've stayed there several times. Mentioned this in the event you're looking for a place in the general area and not necessarily downtown Memphis in particular.

Angelbones,
I live in the Memphis area and have been to the Bass Pro Shop many times. It’s quite a store, and a place we’ll often take out of town visitors just because of the ‘Wow’ factor.

I don’t know if they allow overnite parking. I’d suggest calling the store and asking a manager. It shouldn’t be a problem getting there, and they do have a large parking lot. As someone mentioned you’ll see semi trucks with 53’ trailers making deliveries.

I will caution that while it’s a nice store I’d be somewhat leery staying there overnite. The sad reality is that Memphis has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation for a large city, and as a result crime is a big problem. Its extremely important to be very vigilant in many parts of the city, including the downtown area where the Bass Pro Shop is, especially at night. During the daytime most places are fine, but at night not so much.

I just asked my wife if she’d be comfortable staying overnite in our RV at the Bass Pro Shop and she said “No Way”, and I conceal carry ... lol, so my suggestion would be to stop and check it out, but maybe continue over to Arkansas for a safer place to spend the night.

Sorry I’m sounding like a downer, but that’s just the reality of Memphis.

Tom Sayer RV Park is less than 15 minutes away on the Mississippi River. Great place!

I can't comment about staying overnight but I can second the "Wow" factor. The elevator to the roof sky walk is worth every penny. Amazing view of the area. Worth the trip even if you don't stay there.

We stayed at the state park in Memphis about 16 months ago. Every house that we drove by to get to the park had security bars on all the doors and windows. I think that says something about the crime in the area. I wouldn’t be overnighting it in a parking lot in Memphis. Even at the state park I made sure the outside steps were always retracted when we went to bed at night.

I'm in the Memphis area too. No way I'd spend the night in the Bass Pro parking lot. Look at Tom Sawyer in West Memphis on the river, or just a few miles down I-55 there are a couple of RV parks in MS, Happy Daze is one of them, Memphis Jellystone in Horn Lake is another. Much better and safer.

Graceland RV Park

When in Memphis, we stay at the Graceland RV Park. 24 hour security and a fence.

Regards, Jerry
