Question Steps won't stop

Most folks have trouble with the steps getting stuck. My issue is the opposite. When the ignition is turned on, the steps continuously extend and retract. This is on a 2002 Bounder (Fleetwood) motorhome. Any ideas? Thanks! David

My thoughts are when you turn the ignition on the steps should retract. If there going in and out as I think you are saying they must not be seeing a sensor or something like that lets it know they are retracted and shut the step motor off.

Most motors that power RV steps are similar to those found in a vehicle's power window. They sense current draw and stop when needed.
The issue sounds more like a problem with the sensor on the hinge-side of the door. It's usually a magnet and a pickup.

Yep, now that you say that when the key is on it tells the steps to retract but when you open the door it tells them to extend. Good call

Had the same problem, check your 6 volt batteries. Mechanic found mine were weak causing the problem. Replaced Batteries and problem went away
