Stonevos fabric install, help!

Hi all. Ordered new awning fabric for Stonevos per all of your recommendations here; awesome service. Cheryl called me on a Monday morning asking about thread color and awning was here in Ohio by Wednesday.

Pulled old fabric off yesterday, not terribly difficult. Awning is a Carefree Freedom 16' x 8' with horizontal arms, roller has metal cover over roller on rig side.

I had 3 people trying for 2+ hours to get the fabric into the roller, no dice. Fabric is thicker than original material BUT they use a thinner polycord/ polypod. Original rod was 1/4'. new is 3/16' and there is absolutely NO WAY it is going in. Tried using Aerospace 303 (no silicon per Stonevos), tried filing the channel opening in the tube, nothing. I researched last night and I believe 3/16' is the smallest you can get.

Any help greatly appreciated. Rig is in driveway with awning arms sticking out and HOA isn't going to put-up with me much longer, LOL

Might try a little baby powder on the material. Also find a tapered punch and expand the opening a bit if you can.

Is the end slightly collapsed of the opening to hold the old one in place. Or do you have it reversed? Coach side for outside?

Frank-

StoneVos installed my replacement main awning, but I was not watching at the time. Carefree Pioneer mechanism.

I'd give StoneVos a call- even on a Saturday. They might be answering the phone. They helped me over the phone several times. In fact, if I were you I'd wait until I heard from them- too many $ tied up in the fabric to make a mistake installing it.

Good idea on tapered punch. Will try.

Don't think so.... Even tried the tube from the opposite side, nothing doing.
