Stop/Turn trailer lights don't work

On my 2013 Coachmen Mirada, all lights work properly on the RV itself, but suddenly the stop and turn lights don't work on the trailer output. The running lights work properly. All fuses and relays on panel by driver's left foot check ok. The RV has separate stop and turn lights, while these are combined for trailer output. On my truck, I had to install a piece of electronics that combined the stop and turn and separated the running lights to the trailer connector. I haven't been able to figure out how this is done on the RV, but that seems to be the most likely place for the problem.

Do you have stop and turn at the receptacle on the coach where you would plug in the cable going to the toad?

Since it sounds like it has worked previously and now it doesnt, have you checked the ground wire for frame connection on both trailer and at coach plug? Bad grounds allow for funky operations. Test light or DVM used at coach plug at all 4 pins on the trailer plug?

Happened to me too. After spending time in the shop looking for that bad ground or whatever, I decided to give the Tekonsha Modulite ZCI (Zero Contact Interface) a try. It works by induction so you don't "cut" into any wiring.

Long story short . . . the ZCI system works like a charm.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

It sounds like the converter that combines the turn signal and brake lights may be bad. Mine is right behind the connector on the MH.

No, only the tail light connection at the RV 7 blade connector has power.

Yes, I checked the ground. Also, with the tail lights working, the common ground has to be good.

That's what I suspect also, but don't know where to find it on my Mirada/F53. BTW, the factory is no help. They just keep referring me to the fuse box.

Did you look underneath behind the trailer connection?

Often, it's just bundled in the taillight wiring loom behind the bumper/back edge of the RV. It may be at one end or the other. You need to follow the loom from the trailer plug to both RV taillights.

Thanks everyone. The RV is in storage, and as soon as I can, I'll look again for the converter. Worse case, I'll tap into the RV lights and install an aftermarket converter. I'm also replacing the original lights with LEDs, so I'll be in there anyway.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that some of those converters won't work with LED bulbs!

After looking all over for a box that converts separate stop/tail and turn lights into combined, I gave up and added an aftermarket converter, tapping into the RV's light leads. Seems to work fine. A problem came up with trying to remove the RV lights to get to the wires - the idiots who installed them made the holes a tiny bit too small, then forced the old lights in, which made it impossible to remove them without messing them up. Good excuse to switch to new LED lights. Still had to slightly enlarge the holes to fit them in.
