Question Storage odors inside Class A

I purchased an older Motorhome from the Estate of a friend of mine and the coach had been parked(inside) for about 6 years. It has kind of a musty oder inside that I can't get rid of. I have redone the upholstery and carpet, and had the furnace and AC Vents professional cleaned, which did help. The roof is good and there does not appear to be any leaks. I have sprayed the inside with Biocide, and I am still getting the oder. Short of gutting the whole coach what else can be done?

Any Suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

You might try using an Ozone generator. Either rent one or purchase a small unit and leave it running inside the MH for a while.

musty smell

Its morning, working on the second cup, Im surfing all the "new posts" and saw this post and the SA in me, thought Humph! just fry some fish... just a little morning chuckle. On a serious note, thinking the least costly and intrusive how about giving Febreeze a try.

It may be worth it to try cranking up the furnace and get the interior temperature up to 90 or higher and keep it at that temp for a few hours. Then let it air out for a few hours.

Heating up an interior space has been shown to be one way of eliminating odors caused by new carpet/furniture outgassing.

Check and clean the holding tanks and flush all sink drains. I use Blue Dawn Premium dish soap.

Get some Consan Triple Action 20 and mix up a pump up sprayer with the mix. Spray it everywhere there is a crack. Basement, bath, kitchen, outside and inside. Won’t hurt a thing but will kill all smells. It’ a fungicide and available at some garden centers or online. For example, it’s the only fungicide that will kill all bad smells in a freezer that has gone out.

Don’t be afraid to use it no matter what the label says. It’s safe.

Have you poured water down all the drains to fill the traps?

Ozone generator is a good idea. Just be careful to vent the coach for 24 hrs afterwards and stay out of it.

Odo-Ban original formula was made for eliminating odors during crime scene or death site cleanup. It really works as advertised. Read directions through first very rarely is it used full-strength.

That said, try what scbwr recommended first.

The ozone generator will actually destroy odors, not just mask them. I've used them over the last 10 years or so with good success.

Last trip someone turned the kitchen fan on and left it on. Later that evening we had a camp fire with some damp wood. Ended up with that smoke smell throughout. Three hours of ozone gen running , no more smell what so ever.
