You should be able to get another air governor at any truck parts store, or Mebbe NAPA.

I have a 1997 with Gillig chassis. My dump valve is a NORGREN K41DA00K1LK1L

It is located inside the hinged panel mounted to the left side firewall. Your valve may be slightly different or in a different location, but from the photo Mack Wrench posted looks really similar to mine. Hopefully these photos help you identify it. The valve basically has a piston inside it which shuttles back and forth to supply or remove air supply to the suspension. I have never bypassed mine, but if you figure what lines supply air to the valve and deliver the air to the suspension, it shouldnt be that hard to do. Good luck!

As I stated earlier, my background is big trucks. Our air systems fill the primary tanks first, a check valve doesn't allow air into the secondary side until about 90psi. all our accessories (horn, seat, suspension) run off the secondary side. So the suspension would not normally air up until after the primary side hits 90. Not sure what line was bypassed in GA, but if the check valve between the 2 sides was bypassed then air pressure should rise equally on both sides. Not sure of the cfm rating of a compressor on a motorhome is same as mine, but a leak on the suspension would have to be fairly significant to prevent the system from airing up and should be easily located. As for putting your finger over the feed line at the dryer, the volume won't be high but if the unloader is closed it will quickly build enough pressure to prevent you holding it with your finger. Hopefully macwrench will be able to help over the phone. Dump valve operation is straight forward, running position allows air to pass through the leveling valve, dump position blocks the supply line and bypasses the output to the exhaust. So in the dump position it will close the supply line. I have no idea how the leveling system when the unit is parked works, thought that was hydraulic.

Your right, The leveling system is 100% hydraulic, however there's a electrical connection at the dump valve. When the leveling system is turned on, it tells the dump valve to exhaust the suspension.

Just like your over the road truck, he has a rocker switch on dash that also dumps it by supplying current to the dump valve solenoid.... yours maybe an air type or an electrical switch...

I agree a leak sure would be easy to hear, but the valve is under coach....Its not like it has 100psi and starts leaking (that's what it sounds like when it's aired up and dumped)
The air pressure leaking out is low, as the check valve will have just opened and is struggling to fill the secondary tanks....

I may have to eat my words, but I still ain't bought into compressor replacement, yet, lol

I've sent these pictures to OP, but thought I post them here to possibly benefit the next soul....

The dump valve is located under the coach, just ahead of steer axle. On passenger side, right next to leveling jack... pics were taken looking upClick image for larger version

I'm wondering whether the compressor unloader is somehow getting a false reading due to a blockage somewhere up front, causing the compressor to unload??

I agree not buying bad compressor, My thinking is something either in the governor, or unloader signal line

I might eat my words too but I'm still leaning towards gunked up unloaders and/or governor. A compressor does not intermittently fail.

Latest...

Today marks an entire month of trying to get our air system fixed. We are now camped out in the parking lot at Freightliner in Valdosta, GA, waiting our turn for service.
Hopefully they will be able to fix this problem so that we can finally make it to Florida. If they cannot resolve the issue there will be a very nice motorhome for sale here, cheap, so we can just drive our car back home.
