When they had told me that the new compressor might take 2 months to arrive we left the RV there and rented a cabin by the week in Tampa. By the time we got back there I just looked underneath to see the new compressor, paid the bill and left. I'm just happy that ordeal is over.

UPDATE:

After driving a total of approximately 2000 miles since the Freightliner shop installed a new compressor, I am happy to say that we successfully completed the rest of our Florida trip with no further problems of any kind. We arrived back home in Michigan yesterday afternoon.
Thank you once again, to all of you who offered advice and assistance in getting our mechanical problem corrected.

Thank you for the update, Roland. Too often we don't hear back that the 'fix' is indeed the fix.

May you have many safe miles ahead.

No end to this trouble

Well we made it back home ok, but I soon realized that there were problems. One of the mechanics in GA installed the wrong style air dryer at a cost of $1300. It had started purging oil. So I learned that I have a Holset style compressor, which requires a dryer with a bypass. So I bought a Haldex PURest air dryer and installed it, but there is still a lot of oil purging. After spending over $10000 trying to get these issues resolved I'm about ready to just sell it.

Sorry to hear that Roland. Hopefully you can find someone close to give you a hand and get it sorted.

Hang in there.
