Sturgis Rally What is the best place to stay for a 40 MH

I have decided to take a trip to Sturgis SD to see Rushmore and Motorcycles August 3rd for a week. It is on my bucket list. Anyone have a nice suggestion for an RV park for a 40 Allegro Bus with a trailer(Motorcycle)? Full hookup would be nice and don't need to be really close to Sturgis. Anywhere in the 50 mile range would be good. There are so many to choose from that I thought I would reach out and ask the experts. Thanks.

It depends a lot on what you are looking for while you are there. If you are looking to be right in the middle of the action, I would recommend either the Buffalo Chip ([url=http://www.buffalochip dot com) or Glencoe (glenccoecamp.com). Both of those have a lot of things going on around the campground (concerts, biker games and such) but both can be kind of rowdy and will be noisy, so don't plan on sleeping very much. I have stayed at both of them over the years and they are a lot of fun.

If you are looking for a quieter, more laid- back rally experience, I have had good experiences at Shade Valley Camp Resort (shadevalley.com). It's about 5 miles or so outside of town and is a much quieter place to sleep. They also have full hookups.

There are a LOT of other campgrounds in the Sturgis area that you may like; if you haven't already gone to Sturgis.com, check out their message board for a ton of other places to stay. I'm sure that there are plenty of other great places, but I have stayed several times at the ones I mentioned above and can recommend them.

Be sure to carefully check the reservation/rates pages on any of the campgrounds that you are considering. Some places charge extra for motorcycle trailers, some don't.

Wherever you decide to stay, have a great time! Hopefully, I will see you there

About 17-18 miles to the NW from Sturgis is, Elk Horn Ridge RV Resort. It's located on the outskirts of the town of Spearfish SD. It's very large, has around maybe 100 +, 75' pull throughs and a zillion back-ins. It's a very well maintained, well kept RV park with all pavement, NO DIRT OR GRAVEL. There's a pool, rec room etc. if that's your thing. I will say though, because of its popularity, two things happen when the Sturgis time comes around.

1. It gets booked up pretty far in advance
2. The spots TRIPLE in cost.

From Sept to May, $40 per night
From May to Sept, $ 65 per night

For Sturgis rally time, TWO HUNDRED PER NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't beat Shade Valley. The sites are huge. The have a large saloon with live bands on site. The also have free bus shuttle to downtown Sturgis included in the price. Stayed there for the 75th and we have a group of 9 coaches going back this year.

Elkhorn is a great place. Stayed there this summer. Call them now if you want a chance at getting a spot for the rally..!

We stayed at the Pappy Hoel campground thats at the New Full Throttle Saloon. Plenty of sites clean bathhouses etc. But just about any of the campgrounds you will find plenty of room. I'd like to go back again this year but I don't think it's in the budget.

If you have military privileges the Ellsworth AFB fam camp is nice. A bit of a drive but full hookups, spacious and secure.

About 17miles south of Rapid City is a pass port america park that gave us 1/2 off price for a week. Don't know if they do it for the rally dates or not but mite check.

Rush-no-More campground is close to Sturgis and very quiet location. I have a drone video of it on my YouTube channel, RVNUTS.
